Social enterprise The Underground Collaborative, has established itself in Perth to provide employment pathways for the homeless, at-risk and disadvantaged, while exploring housing solutions through collaboration.
The organisation came about after founder, Katie Liew discovered the complexities surrounding homelessness, and wanted to focus on addressing the root causes through collaboration, in a bid to help end, and break the cycles of homelessness. She is also passionate about educating society as a whole to better understand without the attached stigmas.
Employment can help break these cycles by providing people with the necessary income, self-esteem, and sense of community connection, to enable them to access, and importantly, maintain sustainable housing.
